How bundle deductibles work

Your home and auto deductibles work independently, even when the policies are bundled. Here is what to know.

By the InsuranU team Updated July 20263 min read

Bundling combines the discount and the paperwork, but your home and auto deductibles remain entirely separate.

They apply separately

If U have a claim on your home, only your home deductible applies. Your auto deductible is untouched, and vice versa.

Choosing them together

Since they are independent, U can set a different deductible for each based on what U can afford for that specific type of loss.

A note on multi-peril deductibles

A small number of insurers use a combined or percentage-based deductible for major disasters like hurricanes. Confirm which model your policy uses.
